Spaceman in Vallejo
Spaceman commercial service.
Vallejo's bay-cooled weather is kind to a frozen beverage machine. The outdoor air here often runs cooler than inland, which gives the condenser some help, so when a Spaceman starts pouring thin, watery slush, the likelier causes sit inside the machine: scraper blades worn thin, a barrel that has lost part of its refrigerant charge, or a consistency control that has drifted off its setting.
We check those in order, with gauges on the refrigeration side and the blades in hand. Vallejo's water is hard, and that shows up at cleaning time as a white mineral film on draw valves, o-rings and the drip tray. Our technician for this corner of Solano County is based next door in Benicia. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, and you approve a written quote before work starts. ADRIUM holds EPA 608 Universal certification, and our license is CSLB #1136642.
Common repairs we handle.
- Scraper blades worn thin. The blades scrape frozen product off the barrel wall so fresh mix can freeze in its place. Once they wear, ice builds on the wall, the product turns grainy and the machine works harder for less. We measure the blades against new ones and replace them as a set. They are normal wear parts, and we usually carry the common ones.
- Slow refrigerant leak on the barrel circuit. A barrel that freezes well at opening and loses consistency by afternoon may be running short of charge. We put gauges on it, find the leak with an electronic detector and bubble solution, repair it, then evacuate and recharge to the nameplate. Adding refrigerant without a repair only brings the problem back.
- Consistency control reading wrong. The machine decides when product is ready by reading motor load or a temperature sensor, depending on the model. When that reading drifts, product comes out too thin or freezes too hard. We compare the control's reading with the actual product and test the sensor and wiring before replacing anything on the board.

FAQ
Spaceman in Vallejo questions, answered.
-
Our slush is thin by mid-afternoon but fine at opening. What should we check first?
Feel the air leaving the condenser and watch whether the barrels ever stop cycling. A machine that runs nonstop and still lags is short on capacity: a dirty condenser, a low charge or worn blades. We test all three with gauges and a thermometer while the machine is under load. -
Does Vallejo's hard water hurt a Spaceman?
It mostly shows up after cleaning, as a white film on draw valves, o-rings and seal seats. Rinse the sanitizer off, dry the parts before you reassemble, and wipe the seal seats clean. When we replace seals, we clear any scale first so the new ones seat flat. -
Can the machine keep running while we wait for a seal kit?
If the leak is small and only mix is reaching the drip tray, sometimes for a short while, with the tray watched closely. If mix is reaching the bearing or the back of the barrel, shut that barrel down. A seal is cheap. A bearing and a shaft are not.
