That is how a cheap seal turns into an expensive bearing: mix gets past a worn shaft seal, runs behind the barrel and eats at the bearing and the drive.

Barrel seals and scraper blades are normal wear parts on a commercial machine, and the common ones usually ride with our technician, who is based in Benicia. We replace the seal, check the bearing and shaft for damage, and look behind the panel for mix that has pooled. Common repairs we handle.

Mix in the drip tray from a worn shaft seal. More mix in the drip tray than usual is the first sign of a failing seal. We replace the seal and o-rings as a set, lubricate them correctly and run a freeze cycle to confirm the leak has stopped. Caught early, that is the whole repair.
Rear bearing damaged by a long leak. When mix runs past the seal for weeks, it reaches the rear bearing and the shaft. The drive starts to grind, and the shaft may wobble. We pull the barrel assembly, inspect the bearing and the shaft, and replace what is damaged along with the seal that caused it.
Sticky or dripping draw valve. The draw valve takes hard use at the front of the machine. Worn o-rings let product drip after a pour, and dried mix makes the handle stick. We rebuild the valve with new o-rings, check the handle and its spring, and show staff how to lubricate it at cleaning time.
