Propane conversion and regulator problems. Lazy yellow flames and soot on the burner brass usually mean wrong orifice sizing or a tired regulator, and both are common on the propane properties up the canyons. I measure manifold pressure, confirm the orifice spec against the fuel, and correct the setup so the flame runs blue and quiet again.
Clogged brass burner ports. The machined brass burners hold up for decades but their ports clog with boil-overs and hard water residue, which shows up as an uneven flame ring. I strip the burner assemblies, clear each port properly instead of poking at them, and reseat the caps so the flame pattern comes back to factory.
Oven safety valve refusing to open. When a Chateau oven clicks or hisses but never lights, the flame failure safety valve or its thermocouple has usually given up. I test the thermocouple output in millivolts before condemning the valve, because half the time the cheaper part is the real culprit.
