La Cornue in Albany

La Cornue in Albany kitchens.

La Cornue is the rarest cooking brand we service, and Albany is where the fit gets interesting. Most Albany kitchens sit on small lots along the Marin Avenue grid with compact footprints, and when a hand-built French range turns up here it is usually the CornuFe 30, La Cornue's narrower line built for exactly this kind of galley kitchen, not the full-width Chateau.

Each range comes out of the French workshop hand-assembled, finished in brass or chrome trim. Precise diagnosis comes first here, because parts often have to be special-ordered from France and that wait can stretch out. ZIP 94706 covers all of Albany's 1.8 square miles. Coming from San Ramon runs about 40 to 45 minutes, either I-580 or Highway 24 across to I-80.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Gas burner and ignition fault. No spark on the click, a weak flame, or a burner that won't stay lit on Chateau and CornuFe units. Ignitor and burner repair falls under our gas license, CSLB #1136642.
  • Oven thermostat and element. Off-temp baking or no heat, more noticeable in a small kitchen where the range is doing more of the household's daily cooking. We run a thermostat test, check the heating element, and swap in a new one if it's the culprit.
  • Voute convection oven and door seal. Weak convection in the vaulted oven, or hinge sag and seal leak. In a compact kitchen a leaking door heats the whole room, so we catch this early. That means replacing the hinge and gasket, and those pieces usually have to be special-ordered from France.
  • Induction Chateau control board. Element fault, intermittent power, or a dead zone on induction Chateau and CornuFe models. Board gets tested and swapped, sourced per call.

FAQ

La Cornue in Albany questions, answered.

  • How quickly can you reach Albany for a La Cornue service call?
Figure 40 to 45 minutes from San Ramon, I-580 or Highway 24 over to I-80, and we route Albany with our Berkeley and Richmond Inner East Bay days. Diagnosis comes first, we set honest expectations on part lead times, and every booked visit includes a written arrival window.
  • Do you carry La Cornue parts, or do you source them per call?
The truck carries general burner, ignition, and thermostat parts that work across brands. Anything unique to La Cornue, trim, voute oven components, hinges, seals, or induction boards, has to come from France, and I quote the wait honestly before you commit to the part.
  • What does a typical La Cornue repair cost in Albany?
The diagnostic is $75 and it's waived once you approve the repair. Burner and ignition work runs $350 to $650 in labor, thermostat or element work runs $400 to $750. Hinge, seal, and trim pricing depends on the France part. Written quote before we start, and on a range like this repair almost always beats replace.
