La Cornue is the rarest brand we service, and the most particular. These are hand-built French ranges, assembled to order, and you find them in a small number of Bay Area estate kitchens where the range is the centerpiece of the room. When one needs work, the owner does not want a parts-changer guessing. They want it diagnosed right the first time.

The line runs the Chateau series range cookers in gas, dual-fuel, and induction, each built around the signature voute, the vaulted convection oven that gives La Cornue its heat character. Below the Chateau sits the more accessible CornuFe in 30 and 43 inch, and above it the Grand Palais. La Cornue builds cooking equipment only. There is no La Cornue refrigerator or dishwasher.

What we see is mostly the gas side: burner and ignition faults, an oven thermostat or element that has drifted or failed, the voute convection oven, and door hinge and seal wear on the heavy cast doors. The brass and chrome trim is part of the appliance and part of the repair. On the induction Chateau models the fault is usually the control board.

The honest part of owning a La Cornue is parts. Many components special-order from France, so lead times can run longer than a domestic brand. We diagnose precisely first, tell you exactly what the unit needs, and set a realistic timeline before anything is ordered. Guessing on a range like this is expensive in both directions.

Always worth repairing

A La Cornue is effectively irreplaceable. The range was specified for the room, often discontinued in its exact configuration, and worth many times what a repair costs. The answer is always to fix it properly. We treat these as the heirlooms they are.
