Continental Refrigerator in Half Moon Bay

Continental Refrigerator commercial service.

Half Moon Bay is the anchor for Coastside service, and that covers more than the city limits. We work Continental refrigeration on Main Street and down at the harbor, and the same coverage extends up the coast to Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada. We're ADRIUM Service Solutions, and this equipment runs through Bay Area Refrigeration Service, our commercial division.

Salt air is the thing that makes Coastside refrigeration different from anywhere else we cover. It gets into condenser coil fins and corrodes them from the outside in, and it works on electrical contacts and contactors too, not just the metal you can see. A Continental unit at a harbor restaurant fights that corrosion every day it sits fifty yards from the water, and I check for it even on calls that start out sounding like something else entirely.

The visit itself runs $99, waived the moment you approve the repair. Quotes are written, refrigerant work is done under EPA Section 608 Universal certification, and we schedule seven days. A technician based in San Mateo County handles the whole Coastside, so a call from El Granada isn't treated differently than one from Main Street.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Condenser coil corrosion from salt air exposure. Coastside units, whether on Main Street or out toward Moss Beach, corrode from the coil fins inward in a way inland kitchens never see. Corroded fins lose surface area, head pressure climbs, and the cabinet runs warm even with a clean-looking coil. I inspect fin condition on every Coastside call, not just when the symptom points there, because early corrosion is cheap to manage and late corrosion means a coil replacement.
  • Contactor and electrical connection failure from salt air intrusion. Salt air works its way into electrical enclosures over time and corrodes contactor points and terminal connections, which shows up as intermittent compressor operation or a unit that just stops without warning. I check contactor condition and connection points on Continental units up and down the coast, from Half Moon Bay through Montara, since a corroded contact fails without giving much notice first.
  • Drain line and gasket wear compounded by coastal humidity. Coastal humidity runs higher than inland, and that extra moisture load makes door gaskets fail faster and drain lines ice more easily on Continental prep tables and reach-ins. I replace worn gaskets, clear and check drain line pitch, and confirm defrost termination is working, since a Coastside unit fighting humidity needs all three working together to hold temperature.

FAQ

Continental Refrigerator in Half Moon Bay questions, answered.

  • We're out in El Granada, not Half Moon Bay proper. Do you still cover us?
Yes. Half Moon Bay is the anchor, but our Peninsula-based technician covers the whole Coastside, Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada included. Same-day service isn't something we guarantee out here, but coverage doesn't stop at the Half Moon Bay city line.
  • Does the salt air mean our Continental unit will fail faster than one inland?
The coil and electrical components take more wear here, yes. That doesn't mean constant failure, it means the maintenance interval should be shorter than what works fine in San Ramon or Danville. I'll tell you a realistic schedule for your specific unit and location instead of a generic number.
  • What does the $99 diagnostic include out here?
The same thing it includes anywhere else we go, the visit, the testing, and a written quote for the repair. If you approve that repair, the $99 comes off what you owe. Distance from San Ramon doesn't change the price.
