Continental Refrigerator in Cupertino

Continental Refrigerator commercial service.

Cupertino's food scene runs on turnover: ramen and boba shops along Stevens Creek Boulevard, the restaurant rows at Cupertino Village and Main Street, and corporate catering kitchens feeding tech campuses. Continental prep tables and worktop coolers are common in these kitchens because they take abuse, and we keep them running through Bay Area Refrigeration Service, our commercial refrigeration division.

Asian kitchens with wok lines produce a distinct condenser problem: fine grease aerosol that penetrates deeper into the coil than fryer grease, so a surface vacuuming looks clean while the core stays blocked. I verify with head pressure and superheat rather than eyesight. And before any compressor gets condemned in a Cupertino kitchen, we test amp draw, because start components fail here far more often than motors.

Diagnostic is $75, waived with repair, with a written quote first and a one year warranty on the work. We schedule seven days.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Deep grease penetration in condenser coils from wok lines. The coil face looks passable but head pressure says otherwise. We do a wet degrease that flushes the coil core, then confirm superheat and cabinet pull-down. Kitchens with high-BTU wok ranges usually need this two to three times a year, and skipping it is how compressors die young.
  • Start relay failures on heavily cycled reach-ins. Boba and dessert shops open and close reach-in doors constantly, so compressors cycle far more than a typical kitchen. Relays wear out first. The unit hums and trips instead of starting. We test the windings, replace relay and capacitor as a pair, and verify starting amps.
  • Iced drain lines flooding under prep stations. Humid, busy prep areas overload the defrost drain and the line freezes, sending water across the floor behind the counter. We thaw and clear the drain, fix pitch or heater faults, and check gaskets on the rail lids, since torn lid gaskets feed the ice.

FAQ

Continental Refrigerator in Cupertino questions, answered.

  • Can you get to Cupertino same day from San Ramon?
Usually. The drive down 680 runs 50 minutes to an hour off-peak, and we group Cupertino with Sunnyvale, San Jose, Los Altos, and Mountain View calls into South Bay runs. Tell us the unit is down and holding product and we bump the route.
  • Our prep table cools the cabinet but the rail pans run warm. What is that?
Usually airflow: an iced evaporator, a failed fan motor, or overfilled pans blocking the cold air path across the rail. It is rarely the compressor. We check it loaded, the way you actually use it, and fix the specific fault.
  • What certifications back your refrigerant work?
EPA Section 608 Universal, which covers every system type Continental builds. Recovery and recharge are documented, and our repairs carry a one year warranty with the quote in writing up front.
