- Run capacitor and relay failures on aging reach-ins. A lot of Oakland Continental reach-ins are ten plus years old, and start components are the first electrical parts to age out. Symptoms are hard starting, humming, and clicking from the compressor compartment. I meter the capacitor, swap the failed component, and verify running amps before I call it fixed.
- Frozen drains and water damage in food hall stalls. Shared-kitchen Continental units get door abuse from multiple operators, gaskets leak, evaporators frost, and drain lines freeze. The first visible symptom is water running out of the cabinet. I fix the ice, the drain, and the gasket that caused it, because clearing the drain alone means a repeat call in a month.

What is your response time to Oakland from San Ramon?
About 35 minutes via Highway 24 through the Caldecott, coming out near Temescal. Oakland routes together with Piedmont and Berkeley for us, so we are through the tunnel several times a week. We run 7 days, which matters when a loaded reach-in dies on a Sunday. -

The rail section loses cooling first when airflow drops, so the usual suspects are a dirty condenser, a weak evaporator fan, or low charge from a small leak. I check airflow and superheat before anything else. Most of these calls resolve without opening the sealed system.
