Continental Refrigerator in Alamo

Continental Refrigerator commercial service.

Alamo is not a restaurant town, but Continental equipment still shows up here in two places: the cafe and deli kitchens around Alamo Plaza and Stone Valley Center, and estate homes along Danville Boulevard where owners installed commercial worktop coolers in catering pantries and outdoor kitchens. We service both through Bay Area Refrigeration Service, our commercial refrigeration division.

Estate installs bring their own problems. A Continental worktop cooler tucked into a pool house cabinet without the clearance the spec sheet calls for will run high head pressure all summer, and Alamo summers are hot. I see more heat-stressed run capacitors here than in any commercial kitchen, simply because the condensers are starved for air.

We are based in San Ramon, so Alamo is close to home for us. Diagnostic is $75, waived with repair, written quote first, one year warranty on the work, seven days a week.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Run capacitor failure from heat soak in enclosed installs. Outdoor kitchens and pantry alcoves trap condenser heat. The run capacitor bulges, the compressor draws high amps, and the unit short cycles on the hottest afternoons. We replace the capacitor, measure amp draw against the nameplate, and fix the ventilation problem so the new part lasts.
  • Condenser coil blocked by dust and pet hair in home settings. Estate units do not see fryer grease, but they collect dog hair and drywall dust, and the effect on head pressure is the same. The cabinet runs warm on top, food temperature creeps up, and the compressor never cycles off. A proper coil cleaning and a superheat check usually restores the unit without any parts.
  • Frozen drain pan line in under-counter Continental coolers. When the defrost drain ices over, meltwater floods the cabinet floor and drips onto stone patios or cabinet toe kicks, which owners notice fast in a finished outdoor kitchen. We clear the line, verify pitch, and confirm the defrost termination is working so the flood does not repeat.

FAQ

Continental Refrigerator in Alamo questions, answered.

  • How quickly can you get to Alamo from your San Ramon base?
About 15 minutes up 680. We pass through Alamo constantly on runs to Danville, Walnut Creek, and Lafayette, so same day service is normal and a morning call often gets a morning visit.
  • Do you work on commercial-style refrigeration in private homes?
Yes. A Continental reach-in in an estate pantry gets the same diagnostic process as one in a restaurant: amp draw, superheat, airflow, drainage. The commercial work runs through our Bay Area Refrigeration Service division and I hold EPA 608 Universal certification for the refrigerant side.
  • Will you tell me if the unit is not worth fixing?
Yes, in writing. You get a quote before any repair, and if the compressor is truly gone on an older cabinet I will say so and price both paths, repair and replacement, so you can decide with real numbers.
