Salt air corrodes things inland kitchens never have to deal with. I see blower housings with surface rust and bearings that seize early, and control boards with corrosion on the connector pins that make a hood cut in and out instead of failing clean. A Presrv wine or beverage cooler near a window that gets ocean air can pick up condensate issues on top of the normal evaporator fan wear.

- Blower housing corrosion from salt air. Surface rust and early bearing seizure on hoods near the water. Housing and motor both get checked, since salt air can take out one without the other yet.
- Control board connector corrosion. Coastal moisture gets into the connector pins and the hood cuts in and out instead of just quitting. Cleaning or replacing the connector fixes it more often than the whole board does.
- Presrv cooler condensate buildup near ocean-facing windows. Extra humidity on top of normal evaporator fan wear. I check both before assuming the compressor is the problem.
