The second comes from the newer homes toward Turtle Creek and the Concord edges of the Diablo Valley, where Zephyr hoods went in at construction and are now aging past warranty together, street by street.

Monsoon insert liner blower failure. The Monsoon series hides inside custom cabinetry, so when the blower fails people assume the whole insert has to come out. It usually does not. We access the blower through the filter opening in most installs, test the motor windings and the speed controller, and replace only the failed side. That keeps the cabinet carpentry untouched.
Delay-off and auto functions misfiring. Zephyr's clean-air delay and heat sensing features rely on a small sensor board, and when it drifts the hood turns itself on at odd hours or refuses to shut off. Concord attics get hot enough in summer to accelerate this. We replace the sensor board and verify the behavior against the service spec before we leave.
Presrv dual zone with one warm zone. Dual zone Presrv coolers use a damper and fan arrangement to split one sealed system between two compartments. When the upper zone warms while the lower holds, the damper motor or the circulation fan is the usual suspect, not the compressor. Being EPA 608 certified, I can also open the sealed system when it truly is refrigerant, but I check the cheap parts first.
