Our Cremina sat in a cupboard for years. Can it be brought back?

Often, yes. Seals dry out and scale hardens in a machine that sat, so do not fill and heat it until it has been checked. We open it, replace what has perished and test the boiler and safety valve before it pulls a shot.

Do you collect from Pinole on the Hill?

Yes, and from Pinole Valley, Bay Side, Nob Hill and Old Town. All of 94564 is inside our pickup area. We carry the machine out cool and empty and bring it back tested.

An Olympia Express can outlast the kitchen it was bought for. A Cremina 67, an SL, a 2002-generation machine and the current 49 mm Cremina share one idea, a manual lever over a small boiler, but their parts are not always interchangeable. The first thing we do on the bench is identify which generation is in front of us, because that decides which seals, gaskets and fittings will fit.

Much of Pinole's housing dates from the 1940s through the 1960s, and a machine that has lived on the same counter for decades may never have been opened. We collect it from Pinole Valley, Old Town, Linda Heights or Pinole on the Hill, test it hot and list everything worn, not only the part that stopped. You approve the written quote before we start. We have no manufacturer relationship with Olympia Express.

Common repairs we do

What we repair on the bench.

First full service on a Cremina 67 or SL. An older machine rarely needs just one part. Hard piston cups, a flattened group gasket, a stiff steam valve and brittle sight-glass seals tend to show up together. We list each worn part with the generation it fits and check availability, since some parts come from Switzerland.
Tired power switch and heat-worn wiring. Years of heat cycles wear the insulation on wires near the boiler and the contacts inside the switch. A machine that heats only when the switch is wiggled needs its wiring checked before anything else. We replace damaged wire and terminals and test the thermal protection.
Pressurestat that cycles late or chatters. The pressurestat switches the element on and off to hold boiler pressure. Pitted contacts make it switch late or chatter, and steam pressure swings from one drink to the next. We test it against a gauge, then adjust or replace it.
