What we repair on the bench.

Steam valve that drips after it is closed. Worn packing or a scaled seat keeps the steam valve from shutting off fully, so it drips into the tray or down the case. We strip the valve, clean the seat, renew the packing and seals, and test it closed under full boiler pressure.
Group gasket that no longer holds the portafilter. A hardened gasket lets the portafilter swing too far, and water sprays around the basket rim. On a Cremina we fit a new gasket for the 49 mm group, check the gasket seat for damage and test the lock with the machine hot.
Boiler cap and sight-glass seals that seep. Seals on the boiler cap and the sight glass harden with heat until a thin line of water or steam escapes. It is easy to miss until a stain shows under the machine. We replace the seals and run the boiler to full pressure to confirm they hold.
