What operators should know.
Water is part of the machine
An espresso machine can only work with the water it receives. Minerals collect in heated passages, boilers, valves, and flow paths. An exhausted cartridge can look fine from the outside while scale continues to build inside the equipment. The right approach starts with the machine manufacturer’s water requirements and a water-treatment provider who can match the site to those requirements.
This is an information page. Adrium does not offer coffee-machine installation or water-filtration installation. We repair and maintain coffee equipment; filtration design and installation stay with the appropriate water-treatment provider.
What an operator should track
Keep the filter specification and replacement history with the machine’s service records. Watch for changes in flow, heat-up, temperature stability, and scale residue, but do not treat those symptoms as a complete water test. When a machine comes to our bench, we inspect the water path and tell you what we found so you can take that information back to the filter provider.
Filtration does not replace descaling or scheduled maintenance. It reduces the load when it is specified and serviced correctly. Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3–4 weeks. That is exactly why we recommend preventive maintenance before scale turns a cleaning job into a repair.
For repair work, pickup covers our 56 Bay Area cities plus San Francisco. The applicable deposit pays for pickup, bench diagnosis, and return and does not go toward the repair. Standard bench time is $150 per hour, or $175 per hour for Jura, La Marzocco, and Miele. Repair parts are covered for 6 months; consumables are covered for 90 days.
Our dedicated coffee division has the coffee-only intake and maintenance context. To discuss a machine already showing scale-related symptoms, contact Adrium.
