What breaks. What we fix.

Nespresso Professional puts capsule-based espresso machines into offices, restaurants, and small cafes around the Bay Area. We see the Momento 100 and 200 in office settings, the Aguila 220, 420, and 440 in busier horeca operations, and the Zenius and Gemini in break rooms and counter service. These machines run on a plumbed water line, so the Bay’s hard water drives most of what fails. Scale and brew-head wear are the two items we pull apart most often. We take Nespresso Professional equipment, not household Nespresso capsule machines.

The brewing head and piston take the brunt of daily use. After enough cycles the piston seals and gaskets harden, the head starts leaking around the capsule, and shots come out weak or short. We rebuild the brew head, replace the seal kit, and clean out the capsule-handling mechanism so it indexes and ejects the way it should. A unit that jams on a spent capsule or fails to pierce cleanly is almost always a worn head or a fouled handling path, not a dead machine.

Water faults come next. Pumps lose pressure or get noisy, water and air valves stick from scale buildup, and a thermoblock or boiler crusted with lime stops holding temperature. The result is lukewarm coffee, long heat-up times, or no flow at all. We descale the boiler or thermoblock, test the pump pressure, and free or replace the valves. On the bigger Aguila units there is more plumbing and more valving to chase, so we work it systematically rather than swapping parts blind.

Control boards round out the list. When a machine throws errors, locks the brew cycle, or reads the wrong temperature, we test the sensor circuit and the board before condemning either. Board work and the water-line side are licensed under CSLB #1136642 and done to code. We service these as an independent shop. We are not factory-certified or authorized for Nespresso.

Repair and maintenance

For a commercial operator, the cheapest move is staying ahead of scale. Regular descaling on a Bay Area water line, fresh gaskets and seals on the brew group, and a proper water filter on the inlet keep the piston, valves, and boiler from grinding themselves out early. A brew-group service every so often catches a leaking seal before it ruins the head.

Scale is slow and quiet until the morning it stops the machine cold. Descaling and a filter cartridge cost a fraction of a seized pump or a cracked boiler, and they keep the line moving when the office or the floor is busy. We can set up a maintenance interval that matches how hard the machine runs.

We pick the unit up, diagnose it on the bench, and return it after the approved repair. The deposit covers pickup, diagnosis, and return and does not go toward the repair; its amount is confirmed when scheduling. Bench time is $150 per hour, and no parts are ordered until you approve the written quote.

Diagnostics can take up to a week; most repairs run 3–4 weeks. That is exactly why we recommend preventive maintenance. Repair parts are covered for 6 months and consumables for 90 days. Coffee-equipment pickup covers our 56 Bay Area cities plus San Francisco.
