Menumaster in Alamo

Menumaster commercial service.

Alamo does not have a restaurant row, but it has two things that keep Menumaster units working hard. The first is the small food businesses around Alamo Plaza and along Danville Boulevard, where a deli counter or coffee shop leans on one commercial microwave for the whole lunch rush. The second is the estate kitchens off Round Hill and Stone Valley Road, where homeowners spec commercial-grade equipment, including 1000-watt Menumaster boxes in butler pantries and pool house kitchens.

Those residential installs fail differently than restaurant units. They cycle less but they sit built into cabinetry with marginal airflow, and they ride on household circuits that see surges the restaurant versions never do. I have replaced control boards in Alamo homes where the microwave shared a circuit with landscape equipment.

We are based in San Ramon, so Alamo is our closest service area. Written quote before work, $75 diagnostic waived with repair, 1-year warranty on repairs, and we come out 7 days a week.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Membrane keypad failure. On Menumaster touchpads the number pads wear through, usually the ones matched to the shop's two or three standard heat times. The unit works fine except those buttons need three presses or do nothing. We replace the membrane or the full touchpad assembly depending on the model, which is far cheaper than living with a half-dead panel.
  • High-voltage diode failure. A shorted HV diode gives you a loud buzz when the unit tries to cook and no heat in the food. It often takes the line fuse with it. I test the diode and the capacitor together, because replacing only the diode when the capacitor is leaking just sets up a repeat failure a month later.
  • Overheating in built-in cabinetry. Alamo estate kitchens like to bury a commercial microwave in millwork without the clearances the spec sheet calls for. The unit cooks fine for ten minutes and then shuts down on thermal protection. We correct the venting path where possible, replace the stressed thermal cutout, and tell you plainly if the cabinet needs a vent grille cut.

FAQ

Menumaster in Alamo questions, answered.

  • How close is Alamo to your San Ramon base?
About 15 minutes straight up 680. Alamo sits between our Danville and Walnut Creek routes and near our Lafayette runs, so we can usually offer next-day and sometimes same-day service here.
  • Do you work on commercial microwaves installed in a home kitchen?
Yes, and Alamo is where we see them most. A Menumaster in a pool house or butler pantry gets the same diagnostic and the same 1-year repair warranty as one in a restaurant. The only difference is I also check the cabinet airflow, since that is the number one killer of residential installs.
  • Will you tell me the price before you start?
Always. The $75 diagnostic pins down the failure, then you get a written quote with the part and labor listed. If you approve, the diagnostic fee is waived and the price does not move.
