Keypad failure on aging built-in units. Membrane keypads on units installed during remodels ten or fifteen years ago reach end of life about now. Buttons need multiple presses or stop responding entirely. Where the part is still available I replace the membrane or panel; where it is not, I lay out replacement options in writing before you commit to anything.
Stirrer motor stall causing hot and cold spots. Amana Commercial units use a rotating stirrer antenna instead of a turntable, and when its motor stalls, heating goes patchy. In a household this gets misread as the unit getting old. It is usually one small motor, and the fix restores even heating for a fraction of replacement cost.
High-voltage capacitor failure after power events. Storm outages and generator transfers stress the HV section. A failing capacitor shows up as loud humming, breaker trips, or a dead unit after an outage. I replace the capacitor and diode together and check how the circuit behaved, because on some properties the real fix includes surge protection at the panel.
