AC Repair in Mountain View

AC Repair in Mountain View.

The bay keeps most Mountain View summer afternoons in the upper 70s and low 80s, so much of the older housing was built with no cooling at all. Hot stretches now push past 90 a few times a year, and the repair work follows whatever owners have added since. In Old Mountain View, many Craftsman and bungalow houses in 94041 still heat with a wall or floor furnace and have no ductwork anywhere.

The Cuesta and Monta Loma tracts in 94040 are 1950s single-story homes with low-slope roofs and almost no attic, which leaves little room for ducts and pushes most cooling toward ductless heads. Toward Shoreline in 94043, the newer townhomes run compact ducted systems and a growing number of builder-installed heat pumps. Each type fails in its own way, and we diagnose it on those terms before writing a quote.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Ductless head that runs but barely cools. A mini-split head blowing room-temperature air can be low on charge from a leaking flare fitting, choked by a dirty indoor coil, or waiting on an outdoor unit that has locked out on an error code. We read the code, check the flare joints with a detector, and clean the coil before replacing any board.
  • Condensate pump failing under a wall-mounted head. In a house with no attic, a ductless head often drains through a small pump. When the pump dies or its float sticks, water runs down the wall below the head. We clean or replace the pump and test the drain line from end to end.
  • Townhome heat pump short-cycling in cooling mode. A heat pump that starts and stops over and over may be fighting a clogged filter, reading a thermostat mounted near a supply register, or sized too large for a compact townhome. We check airflow, thermostat placement and the refrigerant charge before touching the outdoor unit.
  • Frozen coil on a compact ducted system. Ice on the indoor coil and water around the air handler point to low airflow or low charge. We let the coil thaw, check the filter and blower, measure superheat, and repair the cause rather than the ice.

FAQ

AC Repair in Mountain View questions, answered.

  • Our Monta Loma house has almost no attic. Can central air work at all?
Sometimes, with careful routing, but a low-slope roof leaves very little space for ducts. A ductless system is usually the cleaner answer: heads in the rooms that need cooling and a line set run along the outside. We look at the roof, the walls and the panel before recommending either.
  • One ductless head quit. Does the whole system need replacing?
Rarely. A failed fan motor, a bad sensor or a dead drain pump on one head is an ordinary repair. If the outdoor compressor has failed on older equipment, we price the repair and a replacement side by side so you can weigh them.
  • How is the diagnostic priced for a Mountain View AC call?
It is $99, and that amount is credited toward the repair if you go ahead. Our technician writes up the fault and one total price so you can decide before anything is done. ADRIUM holds EPA 608 Universal certification for any work on the refrigerant side.

Pricing HVAC repair starts with a $99 diagnostic, credited toward the approved repair, which makes the service call $0 with a completed repair. Considering a new HVAC system? The in-home estimate visit is free.
