LG gas dryer not heating
Problem: The customer’s LG gas dryer had stopped heating.
Diagnostics: Our technician took the front off to get at the heating side of the machine, and two things stood out. The thermistor, the sensor that tells the control board how hot the air is, had failed. And the inside of the cabinet was coated in lint: across the base, around the blower housing and duct, and piled on the burner area, where the metal showed rust and discoloration.
Solution: We replaced the thermistor and gave the dryer a full internal cleaning. The lint came out of the base, off the blower housing and away from the burner.
Result: The failed sensor has been replaced, and the lint that had built up around the burner is gone. Our recommendation for this machine is an internal cleaning every two to three years.
Lint is the part people forget. The screen catches most of it, but some always gets past and settles inside the cabinet, and on a gas dryer that means close to the flame.
