Speed Queen commercial washer door repair in Fremont
Problem: This Speed Queen is a coin-op commercial washer in a laundry room in Fremont. Its door had broken loose on the hinge side. A front-load washer won’t start a cycle until the door is shut and locked, so the machine was out of service.
Diagnostics: The door on this model hangs on a long steel hinge bolted to the cabinet. The hinge was still in place, and broken pieces of white plastic were stuck under its screws. That told us where the failure was. The door’s inner frame is plastic, and that’s what the hinge screws hold. It had cracked and broken away around the mounting points.
Once the plastic around the screw holes is gone, there’s nothing left for a screw to grip. A patch at that spot carries the full weight of the door every time it swings, so it won’t hold for long. We recommended a new door and a new hinge.
Solution: We came back with the parts on October 3. We moved the reusable parts and hardware from the old door to the new one, hung the new door on the new hinge, lined it up, and put everything back together. Then we tested it. The door closes and locks the way it should.
Result: The washer is back in service. If a front-load door starts to sag or close crooked, have the hinge side checked before the plastic cracks all the way through. We repair Speed Queen washers and dryers in Fremont and across the East Bay.
