LG French door refrigerator evaporator fan replacement in Castro Valley
Problem: The customer’s LG French door refrigerator had stopped cooling at all. They could hear the compressor running, but nothing was getting cold. It had gotten noisy, the ice maker quit, and so did the water dispenser. The display on the door showed an error.
Diagnostics: When our technician arrived, the dispenser display read FF E. On this LG, that code points to the freezer evaporator fan. That fan pulls air across the cold freezer coil and pushes it into the freezer and the fresh food side. When it stops, the compressor keeps running and the coil gets cold, but the cold air has nowhere to go. That matched what the customer described. We quoted the freezer grille assembly, which includes the evaporator fan.
Solution: The customer approved the repair and asked us to order the part. Once it arrived, we unplugged the refrigerator, took out the old freezer grille assembly and installed a new one with its new evaporator fan. Then we put everything back together and powered it up. We checked that the new fan runs and moves air, and we checked the display for error codes.
Result: The refrigerator has a working freezer fan again. If your LG shows FF on the display and the fresh food side is warming up, don’t wait it out. Food doesn’t last long once that fan stops. We repair LG refrigerators in Castro Valley and across the East Bay.
