Sub-Zero 680/S compressor replacement in Livermore
Problem: A customer in Livermore called about their Sub-Zero. It was running warm and not cooling, and they told us it was about 24 years old. The rating plate agrees: it’s a 680/S built in July 2002.
Diagnostics: Our technician came out the next day. The condenser coil was matted with dust, and the old condenser fan motor was coated in it too. The diagnosis came down to three parts that needed replacing: a compressor, the condenser fan motor and the light switch.
Solution: The owner went ahead with the repair, and we came back on September 7 with the parts. The new compressor went in as a complete kit: the compressor, an access valve, new starting components, mounting hardware and vibration pads, and a new filter-drier. We also replaced the condenser fan motor, serviced the condenser coil and replaced the light switch. All of it was done in one visit.
Result: The Sub-Zero has a new compressor, a new condenser fan motor and a new light switch. A condenser coil packed with dust makes the compressor and the fan motor work harder than they should, so having it cleaned on a regular schedule takes some of that load off. We work on Sub-Zero as an independent service company, not a dealer, in Livermore and across the Tri-Valley.
