Miele built-in refrigerator repair in Mountain View

Problem: A customer in Mountain View has a Miele KF 2901 SF, a built-in refrigerator with the freezer at the bottom. For about a week its fan was very loud. Then the noise stopped. After that, water droplets kept forming inside, mostly near the upper rear vents, and the fridge felt warmer.

Diagnostics: Our technician took the access panels off the fresh-food side. Heavy ice and frost had built up around the evaporator, and there were water droplets everywhere, even around the wiring connectors. We defrosted the evaporator by hand and cleaned the area. Then we checked the defrost heater and its wiring, and the evaporator temperature sensor. Two parts had failed: the evaporator fan motor and the 120V defrost heater. A dying fan motor often gets loud before it quits. Without the fan, cold air stops moving through the fridge. Without the heater, the automatic defrost can’t clear the frost, and the ice blocks the airflow even more.

Solution: The customer approved the repair, and on the second visit we replaced the evaporator fan motor and the defrost heater. We defrosted and cleaned the evaporator compartment again and cleared out the ice and moisture. We checked the fan and heater wiring, the connectors and the temperature sensors, then put everything back together. Then we tested it. The fan runs, the defrost works, and the air is moving and cooling the fridge the way it should.

Result: The Miele is cooling again. If your built-in fridge gets loud and then goes quiet on its own, don’t take the quiet as good news. Book the visit before the ice and water build up. We repair Miele refrigerators in Mountain View and across the Peninsula and South Bay.
