What breaks. What we fix.

ADRIUM repairs Jenn-Air built-in refrigerator columns, French-door refrigerators, downdraft ranges and cooktops, wall ovens, and range hoods across 45 Bay Area cities. The diagnostic is $99, and it counts toward the repair if you go ahead. Jenn-Air has been part of Whirlpool since the Maytag acquisition in 2006, but the built-in lineup itself, the columns, the downdraft ranges, the wall ovens, still sells well above our $1,000 refrigeration threshold and our $1,500 oven threshold. That’s exactly the kind of appliance worth fixing, so we take these calls without hesitation. Dishwashers are the one Jenn-Air category we pass on, and it’s worth saying that up front rather than after a service call. More on that below.

Downdraft ventilation

Jenn-Air invented the downdraft range, the vent built right into the cooktop instead of overhead, and that layout is still the brand’s signature. It’s also the part that wears first. Most downdraft units raise and lower the vent with a small motor, and after years of that cycle the lift mechanism starts to bind or stops answering the switch. The blower inside the vent housing is the other common failure. It still comes on when you flip the switch, but the draw is weak, so smoke and steam drift up instead of pulling down and out. We test the motor and the blower separately before we open anything, because a worn switch or a loose linkage can mimic either failure.

Refrigerator columns

The built-in refrigerator and freezer columns are sealed-system appliances first, ice makers second. A cooling problem or an ice maker that’s gone quiet usually traces back to the sealed system or the board that runs it, not the ice maker itself, so we check the compressor cycle and the defrost system before we touch anything downstream. When the sealed system itself has failed, that’s a full rebuild done in-house: recover the refrigerant, braze in new line, evacuate, and recharge, all as one job so the labor isn’t paid twice. A column at this price point is worth that work.

Wall ovens and ranges

Wall ovens and ranges fail the way most gas ovens do, at the igniter or the oven control board. A weak igniter still glows but no longer pulls enough current to open the safety gas valve, so the oven won’t heat even though it looks like it’s trying. We test the igniter’s current draw before we replace anything, and if the control board is the actual fault, we read it in diagnostic mode rather than guess from the symptom on the door.

Dishwashers we don’t take

Jenn-Air dishwashers are not a repair we take on, and that’s a standing policy rather than a busy-season answer. This one surprises people, because the machine is expensive and the rest of the Jenn-Air lineup we service without hesitation. The reason is what’s underneath the panel. Jenn-Air dishwashers run the Whirlpool-family platform shared with KitchenAid, the same pumps, valves, racks and control boards, so parts pricing lands where it lands regardless of what the machine cost new. Measured against replacement, a repair is a bad buy more often than not, and we’d rather tell you that now than after a diagnostic. If yours has failed, replacement is the honest answer.

Everything else Jenn-Air makes, the refrigerator columns, French-door units, downdraft ranges and cooktops, wall ovens and ventilation, we take gladly.

A Water Inlet Valve, On Camera

The water inlet valve from a refrigerator. Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has one. The fittings can leak, or the solenoid fails and you lose water to the dispenser and the ice maker.

A Gas Oven Burner and Igniter, On Camera

A gas oven bake burner lighting with an even blue flame after service. The white bar is the glow-bar igniter, and when it weakens the oven will not heat even though it still glows. This runs in pro-style and built-in gas ranges too.

What Sealed-System Work Looks Like

Jenn-Air questions, answered.

  • Do you service Jenn-Air built-in refrigerator columns?
Yes. Columns are core work for us: sealed-system diagnosis, evaporator and fan replacement, door alignment on panel-ready units. $99 diagnostic, credited to the repair.
  • My Jenn-Air downdraft vent will not rise. What is wrong?
Usually the lift motor or the switch that tells the control the vent reached its stop. We check the motor circuit before ordering, because a stuck vent and a dead motor look identical from the front.
  • Is Jenn-Air the same as Whirlpool inside?
The company has been part of Whirlpool since the Maytag acquisition in 2006, and some components cross-reference. The built-in lineup is still its own design, and we work from the model number rather than assumptions.
  • My Jenn-Air wall oven will not hold temperature. What do you check?
The temperature sensor and the bake element first, then the control board. Sensors drift with age and read high, so the oven cuts off early. We measure the sensor resistance cold before replacing anything.
  • Do you take Jenn-Air appliances that are out of warranty?
Yes, that is most of what we see. Built-in Jenn-Air equipment is worth repairing well past the warranty window, which is exactly why we take these calls.
