Thermador Thermador 36-inch Six-Burner Gas Range PRG366GH Cooking appliance repair

Thermador gas range burner not lighting in South San Francisco

Problem: A South San Francisco family booked one visit for three kitchen items, and the one that mattered most was their Thermador 36-inch six-burner gas range, model PRG366GH. One burner had stopped lighting. Before it quit it had been clicking a lot, which usually means the igniter is sparking but the spark is not doing anything at the burner.

Diagnostics: Our technician lifted the cast Star burner head off its base. That is where the answer was: the underside of the burner and the ports around it had a film of cooking residue and corrosion, and the igniter electrode sitting at the base was dirty enough that the spark could not reach the gas the way it should. The gas valve and the rest of the ignition circuit checked out, and the other five burners were fine.

Solution: He cleaned the igniter electrode and the burner base, cleared the ports on the burner head, set it back down square on the base, and tested ignition across the cooktop. Nothing had to be replaced.

Result: The burner lights on the first click again, with an even flame across the star. The family kept every original Thermador part, and the visit ended the same day it started instead of waiting on an order.

Endless clicking with no flame is the most common complaint we hear on Thermador Star burners. The design puts the igniter right where spills and boil-overs land, so buildup on the electrode is far more likely than a failed part. That is why we clean and test first and only order components when they are actually needed.

If a burner on your Thermador range clicks without lighting, or has stopped sparking altogether, we service Thermador ranges, cooktops and ovens across South San Francisco and the wider Bay Area, with a $99 diagnostic credited toward the repair.
