What breaks. What we fix.
ADRIUM repairs Thermador pro ranges, Star Burner cooktops, wall ovens, Sapphire dishwashers, and Freedom column refrigeration across 39 East Bay and Tri-Valley cities. The diagnostic is $75, waived with repair, and you get a written quote before any work starts. Thermador puts most of its money into burners and the Freedom column refrigeration, and both fail in known places.
Star Burner ignition is the most common cooktop and range call. Spark on one burner but no flame, or the ignitor clicks across all six burners every time you light one. The fix is almost always the spark module, the ignitor electrode, or the gas valve micro-switch. Carbon buildup at the electrode tip also masks as a bad module. We clean, re-gap, and bench-test before ordering parts.
Pro Grand and Pro Harmony ovens have a recurring thermocouple and thermostat issue around the seven-year mark. Oven heats but won’t hold temperature, broiler cycles oddly, or the convection fan stays on after the cycle ends. The fan-circuit relay on the control board is the culprit on the dual-fuel models. Single Pro Grand ovens with steam injection need the steam-tank cleanout every couple of years or the pump fails.
Freedom column refrigerators share a platform with Bosch and Gaggenau under BSH. The ice-maker assembly in the freezer column on the T18 and T24 fails predictably: ice mold cracks, fill tube freezes, harvest cycle hangs. We replace the whole assembly, not just the mold, because the harvest motor wears at the same rate. When a column simply stops making ice, though, the first thing we check is the bin. The on-off switch rides on the ice bin, so a bin that is not fully seated and locked reads as full and shuts production off, no parts needed.
The other common call on the freezer columns is the defrost system, not the ice maker. These run an adaptive defrost with two heaters, one on the evaporator and one on the drain. When the drain heater quits or the drain path clogs, meltwater refreezes at the bottom of the cabinet and you get a slab of ice under the lowest drawer or water at the toe kick. We clear and test both heaters and the drain rather than just chipping the ice out. The 18-inch column also carries a solenoid stop valve in the sealed system that the wider models do not have; a faint click from it is normal, but a stuck valve shows up as a column that runs and will not pull temperature. Before we condemn any part on these columns we run the onboard service test, which cycles the compressor, both heaters, both fans, the ice maker, and the stop valve one at a time and reads the ambient, evaporator, and compartment sensors. It tells us in a couple of minutes whether the fault is the component or the board driving it.
When a Freedom column loses refrigerant, the repair is sealed-system work, not a part swap. This is the diagnosis: nitrogen on the line set, soap to find the leaks, then the corroded copper that caused them. When we rebuild the sealed system on a Freedom built-in refrigerator, that repair is backed by a 2-year warranty.
Sapphire dishwashers throw an E15 base-pan leak code when the recirc pump seal weeps. The leak is small enough that the owner doesn’t see water but the float switch trips. Pull the unit, replace the pump and the base-pan check valve, reset the code. Two-hour job done right.

Thermador questions, answered.
-
My Star Burner clicks but won't light. What's wrong?
Almost always the spark module, the ignitor electrode, or carbon buildup at the electrode tip. We clean, re-gap, and bench-test the gas valve micro-switch before ordering a new module. -
Do you service Thermador Freedom columns?
Yes. The T18 and T24 ice-maker assembly is our most common Freedom call. We replace the whole assembly because the harvest motor wears at the same rate as the mold. -
What does the E15 code on a Sapphire dishwasher mean?
Base-pan leak. The recirc pump seal is weeping. We pull the unit, replace the pump and the base-pan check valve, and reset the code. Two-hour job. -
Are Thermador parts hard to get?
Most common parts ship within three business days from the BSH distribution network. Niche parts (Freedom column harnesses, Pro Grand steam-tank components) can take two weeks. We tell you the lead time before we order.
