It's some of the tightest install clearance I work in, which matters when something needs to come apart for service.
Closer to Stanford and out toward the larger lots near Atherton, the kitchens run bigger, full MasterCool columns and a dedicated entertaining dishwasher in addition to the main one. These are usually long-standing installs from a full kitchen build rather than a later upgrade.

- KF Column Defrost Drain Clog. In the tighter downtown units, the KF column's drain clogs and the water backs out under the cabinet toe kick, sometimes traveling into an adjoining pantry before it's noticed. I clear the drain, test the heater element, and check clearance behind the unit since tight installs restrict airflow and make this happen sooner.
- MasterCool Column Running Warm or Icing Up. The larger estate-style columns near Stanford bring me in for a warm compartment more than any other issue, and I always check the evaporator fan and coil temperature split before assuming it's a refrigerant leak, since replacing a fan is a same-visit job and chasing a leak is not.
- G Series Dishwasher Drain Pump, Inlet Valve, and Control Faults. These dishwashers get heavy use in busy Palo Alto households, and when one finally stops it's the drain pump, the inlet valve, or a control fault showing on the display. I read the code first so I'm not guessing at what to replace.
