Dacor range hood light stuck on in Los Altos
Problem: A customer in Los Altos called because a light on their Dacor range wouldn’t turn off, and they asked for the earliest appointment we had. On the visit we found the light in question was on the range hood, a Dacor DHW482.
Diagnostics: The hood’s controls sit on one panel: a light button, fan down, fan up and a timer. The buttons don’t switch the light on their own. They signal the control board, and the board switches the power. Our technician traced the problem to the control board, so new bulbs wouldn’t have helped.
Solution: The owner approved replacing the board. It wasn’t a part we had on hand, so our technician tracked one down, and once it came in we installed it.
Result: The hood has a new control board, and the repair was finished two days after the first visit. On a hood with electronic controls like this one, a light that won’t switch off points to the controls, not the bulbs. We repair Dacor range hoods and other cooking appliances in Los Altos and across the Peninsula and South Bay.
