Dishwasher Repair in El Sobrante

Dishwasher Repair in El Sobrante.

About three quarters of El Sobrante's housing was built between 1940 and 1979, and many of those kitchens started out with no dishwasher at all. A machine added later had to borrow power, water and a drain from what the kitchen already had: a circuit shared with other loads, a supply line teed off the sink, a drain run into the disposer. Those connections age, and a loose wire or a tired valve can look exactly like a failed dishwasher.

EBMUD water here is soft to moderate, so scale is rarely the first suspect. We check the connections before the control, then the machine itself: Thermador, Miele, Fisher & Paykel, GE Profile or Cove. El Sobrante is covered by our technician based in Benicia. The $99 diagnostic is credited toward the repair, with the quote in writing before work starts.

What the work looks like

A dishwasher leaking from the pump and sump.

The base of a dishwasher, where the circulation pump, sump, and diverter live. A worn pump seal, a cracked sump, or the diverter lets water past and onto the floor.

Common repairs we handle.

  • Dishwasher that dies mid-cycle on a shared circuit. When another appliance on the same circuit kicks on, voltage can dip and the dishwasher resets or trips the breaker. We check the connection box behind the kick plate and the voltage under load before we look at the control board.
  • Tee valve or supply line leaking under the sink. A dishwasher supply teed off the sink's hot line uses a small valve and fitting that corrode over time, and a slow drip there soaks the cabinet floor. We replace the fitting or the line and check the valve for full flow.
  • Miele stopping with a fill fault. A Miele reports a fill problem as a specific code on the display. The inlet valve or a kinked supply line is almost always the cause, not the control. We check the water flow at the valve and replace the part that fails the test.
  • Grinding noise from the wash pump. A grinding or rattling sound during the wash usually means glass, a bone or a pit has reached the pump chamber. We clear the chamber, check the impeller for chips, and replace the pump if the blades are broken.

FAQ

Dishwasher Repair in El Sobrante questions, answered.

  • Our dishwasher was added years after the house was built. Could that cause problems?
It can. A retrofit install may share a circuit, run the drain into the disposer without a high loop, or use a small tee valve under the sink. We check all three during the diagnostic, since any of them can cause faults that look like the machine.
  • Is a GE Profile dishwasher worth repairing?
Often, yes. Profile models are built well enough that a pump, valve or door latch repair makes sense on a machine in good shape. We read the fault, test the part and quote the repair in writing.
  • Why does our dishwasher trip the GFCI?
A GFCI trips when current leaks to ground, and in a dishwasher that can come from water reaching a heater, a pump or a wire connection. We look for the leak and test each part to ground. Resetting it again and again without finding the cause is not safe.
