Thermador dishwasher drain pump replacement in Alameda
Problem: The owner of a Thermador dishwasher in Alameda called because it had stopped draining.
Diagnostics: Most drain complaints start at the filter, so that’s where we started. With the lower rack out, we pulled the filter from the sump and cleaned it. Then we cleaned the drain hose and checked the rest of the drain path for anything stuck in it.
A clogged filter or hose would have been the easy answer. It wasn’t that. With the drain path clean, the problem came down to the drain pump itself. We recommended replacing it, with one last electrical check before the new part went in, to make sure the fault was the pump and not the power to it.
Solution: We quoted an OEM drain pump. The quote covered the new pump, a check of the pump connections and drain hose, reassembly, and a full drain cycle test.
Result: The owner went ahead with it, and the pump was replaced on the second visit. If your dishwasher leaves water in the bottom, clean the filter first. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
