Midea FlashChef E5 diagnosis in Redwood City
Problem: A café in Redwood City runs two Midea FlashChef G1 high-speed ovens. Both were showing the same error, E5, tied to magnetron 2.
Diagnostics: High-speed ovens like the FlashChef combine microwave power with hot air. The microwave side runs on magnetrons, and each magnetron is fed by a high-voltage inverter board. An E5 on magnetron 2 tells you which circuit to look at. It doesn’t tell you which part failed.
With the covers off, our technician worked through the magnetron 2 circuit. The checks pointed to the inverter board as the most likely failure. Before a new board goes in, the door interlock assembly and the relay circuit need to be confirmed as working.
The magnetron is a separate question. Our tests didn’t show that magnetron 2 had failed. We still listed new magnetrons in the quote as a preventive replacement, and we said so plainly, so the owner could decide with the full picture.
Solution: The café got a written quote covering both ovens: two high-voltage inverter boards with heat sinks, plus two magnetrons as a precaution once compatibility is confirmed.
Result: No parts were replaced on this visit. The owner has the diagnosis for both ovens and the quote. Error codes on these ovens name a circuit, not a part, so we keep what the tests showed separate from what we’d replace as insurance. We service commercial kitchen equipment in Redwood City and across the Peninsula.
