Electrolux dryer noise diagnosis in San Ramon
Problem: A customer in San Ramon found us through a Google search and sent a service request for their Electrolux dryer, model EFME62UTTZ. It made a noise when it started, and they figured a roller needed replacing.
Diagnostics: That’s a fair guess. Worn drum rollers are one of the usual sources of dryer noise. But the drive motor sits under the drum, close to the rollers and the blower, and a worn motor bearing can sound a lot like a roller from outside the cabinet. Our technician opened the dryer up and found the squeak was coming from a bearing in the drive motor.
Solution: The bearing is part of the motor, so the fix is a new drive motor. We recommended replacing it.
Result: The owner chose not to go ahead with the motor replacement after the diagnosis. For a dryer that squeaks at startup, have the source of the noise checked before ordering rollers or a motor. They can sound alike from outside the cabinet. We repair Electrolux dryers and washers in San Ramon and across the Tri-Valley.
