The salt air rolling in off the coast is real, it works on metal hinges, door gaskets, and any exposed control board contact faster than a house ten miles inland ever sees, and I factor that into what I check first on a service call in Linda Mar or Sharp Park.

A lot of the homes up in the Pedro Point and Fairmont neighborhoods are older beach bungalows that got a kitchen remodel at some point, and the Miele built-ins that went in during that remodel are usually a KF column and a G Series dishwasher, sometimes an induction cooktop if the whole kitchen went electric.

KF Column Door Gasket and Hinge Corrosion. The salt air off the coast eats at exposed hinges and the metal trim around the door gasket faster here than anywhere else we cover, and a corroded hinge throws the door alignment off just enough that the gasket stops sealing. Once the seal goes, the compressor runs longer to hold temperature and the defrost drain clogs sooner from the extra condensation. I check the hinge and gasket together, not just one or the other.
Induction Cooktop Control Board Faults. On the induction cooktops in Pacifica's electric kitchens, moisture and salt in the air can get into the control board connections over time and cause intermittent burner faults or a cooktop that won't power on at all. I check the connector contacts for corrosion before I assume the board itself is bad, since sometimes a clean and reseat solves it.
G Series Dishwasher Drain Pump and Inlet Valve Faults. Same failure as everywhere else we cover, a seized drain pump or a stuck inlet valve leaves water in the tub or a dishwasher that won't fill, but I've found the exposed hose clamps on these units corrode a little faster out here near the water, so I check those while I'm in there.
