The MasterCool condenser coils on Coastside units corrode faster than anywhere else we cover, the aluminum fins turning white and flaking apart from years of salt-laden fog. A corroded condenser can't shed heat properly, so the column runs warm and the compressor works overtime trying to compensate. I clean and inspect the fins on every Half Moon Bay call, even ones that came in for something unrelated.
Dishwasher Door Latch and Hinge Seizing. G Series dishwasher door latches and hinges seize up on the coast well before the rest of the unit shows any wear, the metal components corroding from moisture that inland kitchens simply don't see. A door that won't latch fully trips the safety switch and stops the cycle before it starts, and that's usually the first sign something's wrong out here.
KF Column Evaporator Fan Motor Failure. The evaporator fan motor on KF columns tends to go out sooner on the Coastside, the bearings wearing from constant exposure to salt-heavy moisture in the air even inside a sealed kitchen. A failing fan shows up as warm spots in the fridge compartment and a faint grinding sound before it quits completely.
