Hoshizaki ice maker maintenance in Emeryville
Problem: An office in Emeryville has a Hoshizaki KM-61BAH, an undercounter ice maker with its own bin. They asked us for a maintenance visit and a full cleaning.
Diagnostics: Mineral scale and buildup had collected in the water system and on the evaporator. Cleaning this machine meant reaching those areas, not just wiping out the bin.
Solution: Our technician cleaned and sanitized the whole ice maker. We used ice machine descaler to remove mineral scale and buildup from the water system and evaporator. We cleaned and sanitized the internal parts, water reservoir and ice bin. Then we flushed the system with clean water and tested it.
We also recommended adding a 3M ICE120-S commercial filter on the ice maker’s water line. Our recommendation included sediment, chlorine taste and odor reduction, plus scale inhibition to help protect the evaporator. We recommended changing the cartridge every six months or 9,000 gallons, whichever comes first.
Result: The ice maker is clean and running properly. The filter is the office’s call. If you have an ice maker at work, put cleaning and sanitizing on a schedule. We service Hoshizaki ice makers in Emeryville and across the East Bay.
