GE dishwasher leveled and fastened back in, Walnut Creek
Problem: A property manager wrote to us about a tenant’s GE dishwasher in Walnut Creek. Part of it seemed to have come loose from the shell. They wanted to know if it could be fixed or if it had to be replaced.
Diagnostics: Our technician took off the lower front panel and looked underneath. The dishwasher was sitting out of level, and it was no longer fastened at the top, where the mounting brackets hold it to the cabinet. A dishwasher that isn’t fastened can rock forward when the door is open and a loaded rack is pulled out.
Solution: We fixed the legs and set the dishwasher level. Then we secured the top mounting brackets, so it’s held to the cabinet again. We also pulled out some pieces of broken glass and cleaned up.
Result: It sits level and tight in its opening again, and it didn’t need replacing. If a dishwasher moves when you open the door, check how it’s held in before anything else. Most built-ins are screwed to the counter or to the cabinet sides, and when those screws let go, the whole machine shifts.
