Half Moon Bay is the anchor for the Coastside, and I cover the string of small towns north of it too: Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada, all strung along Highway 1 between the harbor and the fog line. The salt air out here is not just a smell, it gets into appliances and speeds up corrosion on anything with exposed metal, which changes what actually fails on an LG fridge compared to an inland town.

Compressors on the 2014 to 2019 LG French-doors still fail the standard way, running but not cooling, and I still check the serial against LG's program first. But out here I see corroded evap-fan motor bearings and rusted control-board connections earlier than I would in San Mateo or Belmont, just from years of salt air working on the metal. Homes near Main Street and the harbor see it worst.

Dual-inverter washers hold up fine mechanically, but the LE rotor-sensor fault still shows up on the same schedule as anywhere else since that part sits sealed inside the drum assembly, away from the air.

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

LG and Samsung washer drain pumps side by side. When a washer will not drain or hums at the end of a cycle, this small pump is the usual suspect, and the two brands fail in different ways.

Linear-compressor no-cool, same failure, faster corrosion around it. Compressor runs, fridge stays warm. We check the serial against LG's program, and check the surrounding wiring for salt-air corrosion while we are in there.
Evap-fan motor failure from coastal air. Fan bearings corrode faster this close to the water. Replacement restores cooling in about half an hour.
Dual-inverter washer rotor-sensor fault. Sealed inside the drum, so salt air does not speed this one up. Same LE code and one-visit sensor swap as anywhere else.
