San Jose is the biggest concentration of Hoshizaki equipment on our map. San Pedro Square and the downtown core, Japantown's restaurants, the banquet halls and hotels around the convention center, and hundreds of neighborhood kitchens in between. The fleet here includes the big machines, KM-1601s and remote-condenser SRJ units on rooftops, and remote systems fail in ways a self-contained cuber never will.

The base failure mode is still water. San Jose's supply leans on hard groundwater in much of the city, and evaporator plates foul on a faster clock than Hoshizaki's schedule assumes. Twenty percent under rated daily production is my line: at that point the plate gets checked before anyone talks about refrigerant. On remote systems I add the line set and rooftop condenser to the checklist, because a cooked or restricted remote condenser produces the same complaint from a different cause.

  • Remote condenser problems on SRJ rooftop systems. Rooftop condensers bake in the San Jose sun, collect debris, and occasionally lose their headmaster valve function in winter. The kitchen sees slow ice and blames the machine. We service both ends of the system, verify line set integrity, and measure pressures where the fault actually lives.
  • Groundwater scale collapsing production. Hard well-sourced supply in parts of the city scales the KM plate aggressively. Thin, cloudy crescents and stretched freeze cycles arrive first, float and pump failures follow. A full descale with measured before-and-after cycle times is the fix, and we set the recleaning interval off what this specific water did to your plate.
  • Float switch shutdowns in high-volume banquet machines. Banquet-duty cubers cycle constantly, and a scaled dual float switch eventually triggers the protective shutdown, historically the night of an event. We replace the float, descale the reservoir, and inspect the plate for freeze-up damage, then leave a written record the kitchen manager can hold us to.

  • What part of San Jose can you actually cover from San Ramon, and how fast?
    All of it, about 35 to 40 minutes down 680 to the downtown core, longer to the far south side. We route San Jose with Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Saratoga, and Los Gatos, so South Bay days put us in the city constantly and appointment windows hold.
  • We have a remote condenser system nobody local wants to touch. Is that you?
    Yes. I am EPA Section 608 Universal certified, which covers the high-charge remote systems legally, and I diagnose both ends before quoting instead of condemning the expensive half by default. The quote is written and the diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the work.
  • Can you support multiple locations under one arrangement?
    We do that for restaurant groups now: one maintenance schedule, per-machine service records, and written quotes per repair with a 1-year warranty on each. One call covers the fleet.
