Hoshizaki in Cupertino

Hoshizaki commercial service.

Cupertino's ice demand is not steak-house ice, it is volume ice. Boba shops on Stevens Creek, ramen and hot pot places around Main Street Cupertino, and corporate break rooms all lean on Hoshizaki cubers and DCM cubelet dispensers running near capacity most of the day. Santa Clara Valley water carries more hardness than most of the Bay, and it shows up on evaporator plates here faster than almost anywhere else I service.

The math is blunt. A KM-901 rated around 900 pounds a day that is binning closer to 700 has lost 20 percent, and in Cupertino that loss is almost always scale, not refrigerant. Owners who wait for an error code end up paying for a float switch and a pump on top of the descale.

We are ADRIUM Service Solutions out of San Ramon, owner Andrew Kuznetsov, EPA Section 608 Universal, CSLB #1136642. Written quotes, $75 diagnostic waived with repair, 7 days a week, because a boba shop without ice is a boba shop that is closed.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Rapid scale accumulation on the evaporator plate. On Cupertino's harder water, KM plates foul in a fraction of the manual's assumed interval. Freeze cycles stretch, crescents thin out, and daily output slides. We descale the plate, pump, and float reservoir, then measure a full cycle against factory freeze time to prove the fix.
  • Thermistor drift delaying harvest. The cube control thermistor on the suction line drifts with age, so the board waits too long to start harvest. Ice over-freezes, sheets stick, and the machine can shut down on a long harvest. We test the thermistor's resistance against the chart and replace it rather than guessing at the board.
  • DCM cubelet dispenser auger and bearing wear. Office break rooms love the DCM series, and the auger system is its wear point. Grinding noise, crushed soggy cubelets, or ice backing up into the chute means bearing or auger trouble. We rebuild the assembly and descale the water side while it is open.

FAQ

Hoshizaki in Cupertino questions, answered.

  • What is your travel time to Cupertino from San Ramon?
Plan on 45 to 50 minutes down 680 and across 237 outside of commute windows. We batch Cupertino with Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Los Altos, and San Jose on South Bay days, so confirmed appointments hold their window even when traffic does not cooperate.
  • Our machine keeps shutting itself off and restarting. What is that?
KM controls shut the machine down to protect it, commonly after a freeze-up or a long harvest, and both trace back to scale or a failing sensor more often than a refrigeration fault. Do not keep power-cycling it all day. Each forced restart on a frozen plate risks the pump and the hot gas valve.
  • Do you offer anything to make the ice last longer between repairs?
Filtration matched to this water, plus scheduled descales, changes everything on Cupertino installs. We quote both in writing at the visit. Any repair we do carries a 1-year warranty, and the $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the work.
