- Scale in the freezing cylinder and on the auger. Hard water leaves mineral on the cylinder wall, and the auger has to scrape through it. Ice output drops and the auger motor works harder every cycle. We descale the water path and the cylinder, then check the auger and its bearings for the wear that scale causes.
- Water inlet narrowed by mineral buildup. A partly blocked inlet starves the cylinder, and the machine reports low production or a water fault. We clean or replace the inlet valve and its screen, check supply pressure at the machine and look at the date on the filter cartridge.
- Drain line slowed by scale and slime. Minerals and biofilm narrow the drain until water backs up into the machine. We clear the line, check that it falls toward the drain the whole way and clean the fittings that scaled first.
