Bosch Home Comfort is the HVAC side of Bosch, and it is a different animal from the budget furnace badges. The signature product is the IDS, an inverter ducted split heat pump that drops into a conventional duct system without the wall heads of a mini-split. That is the appeal in a Bay Area retrofit. You keep the existing ductwork, gain inverter efficiency and quiet operation, and lose the gas furnace. For a house converting off gas, it is a clean path. This is the HVAC line, separate from Bosch’s well-known dishwashers and ovens, which we cover under appliances.

The hardware is solid German inverter design, and it runs quiet, which is what most owners notice first. The honest watch-item is the same as any inverter system. The value lives in the install. Charge it by weight, set the line set right, and commission it properly, and an IDS holds capacity and sips power. Cut corners on the install and you chase efficiency complaints that are not the unit’s fault. I am not factory-authorized on Bosch the way I am on Daikin and Mitsubishi, so on an out-of-warranty inverter board I am candid about parts lead time before we start.

What we see is inverter-system work, not furnace work. Outdoor control or inverter boards, sensors and thermistors, and the occasional reversing valve or charge issue. Most of it is diagnosable by code and repairable, and most efficiency complaints trace back to commissioning.
