In the older retrofitted houses the range is my steady Amana call. The AGR gas models go at the surface igniter. It glows weak, can't light the gas, and keeps clicking while the burner sits cold, and folks blame the valve when it's almost always the igniter. The AER electric models split two ways. A cold-running oven is the RTD sensor reading wrong. A dead oven is the bake element. The fridges show up for gaskets and defrost like Amana top-freezers do everywhere, and I put a meter on the defrost circuit before anything gets replaced.

- AGR surface igniter. Burner clicks but won't catch. Igniter, not valve, almost every time. Stocked part.
- AER oven sensor or bake element. Cold oven is the RTD sensor, dead oven is the element. Both carried on the truck.
- Top-freezer gasket or defrost. Door-frame sweat is the gasket. Slow warming is defrost. Tested before parts go in.
- Dishwasher inlet valve or door latch. No fill or won't start. Both are twenty-minute fixes.
