An LG washer that stops with OE is reporting that it cannot drain the wash water. LG lists a restricted hose and clogged pump filter among possible causes. A pump replacement should follow diagnosis, not the code alone. LG front-load OE explanation.
The WM4000 is a front-load family. Match the complete suffix on its label to the owner manual before using the lower service opening. Keep a locked door closed while water remains inside.
Before opening the filter
Switch the washer off, disconnect it safely as the manual directs and let hot wash water cool. If water is near the outlet or plug, keep clear and get help rather than reaching into it.
LG’s filter-cleaning procedure drains residual water through the small drain hose before the filter cap is removed. A container catches that water. Opening the larger filter cap first can release water onto the floor. LG drain-filter procedure.
Use that procedure only when it matches your washer and you can contain the water safely. A tightly fitted or inaccessible machine is a reason to book service, not improvise access.
Look at the hose without moving the washer
If a visible section is kinked or compressed, record it. LG identifies that as another potential restriction. Do not disconnect a hose while the drum holds water, and do not pull a stacked installation forward.
After cleaning permitted by the manual, reinstall the filter and small hose cap correctly. If OE returns, tell the technician what was removed from the filter and whether any water drained normally. Repeating resets loses time without explaining a returning fault.
Keep drainage and door-lock symptoms distinct
“It leaves water and the door stays locked” is a more useful report than “the lock is broken.” Also note whether the washer reached the spin stage. We can investigate both conditions without assuming they need two replacement parts.
