Refrigeration Repair in San Jose

Refrigeration Repair in San Jose.

San Jose refrigeration changes by area. Almaden Valley in 95120 has a lot of late-2000s custom builds with Sub-Zero 48-inch built-ins. Twenty years in, that is the sealed-system and evap-fan window: a compressor that runs without ever satisfying, slow warming, ice on the back panel. Willow Glen and Cambrian, 95125 and 95124, are full of remodels running Thermador Freedom columns and Bosch Benchmark stacks. The volume call there is the Freedom-column defrost drain heater and the iced-up evaporator behind it.

Out toward 95129 in the West Valley we see Fisher and Paykel column refrigeration and integrated DishDrawer doubles. F&P columns drift and frost differently than Sub-Zero, so we run the F&P-specific diagnostic rather than treat it the same. Evergreen in 95135 is steadier, more mainstream French-door work. Across all of it we diagnose to the actual failure before ordering, weigh in any charge by scale, and test the pull-down before we close. We block South-Bay days so we are not running back and forth across 880.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.

Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

Water and ice systems

The water inlet valve, a common fridge leak.

Every fridge with a dispenser or ice maker has a water inlet valve. The fittings can leak under the cabinet, or the solenoid fails and the dispenser and ice maker stop getting water.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Sub-Zero sealed-system service (Almaden 95120). Compressor running without cooling on the 48-inch built-ins. Recover, leak-check, evacuate, weigh in fresh charge. Two visits.
  • Thermador Freedom column drain heater. Iced defrost drain and frosted evaporator in the Willow Glen and Cambrian columns. Thaw, replace the heater, check the fan. One visit with the model number.
  • Fisher & Paykel column refrigeration (West Valley 95129). Drift and frost on the F&P columns. We run the F&P-specific diagnostic and confirm the fault over a hold before we order a part.
  • Evap-fan motor on built-in columns. Constant compressor run, warming fresh-food side. OEM motor, airflow split verified. Common across Almaden and Evergreen.

FAQ

Refrigeration Repair in San Jose questions, answered.

  • How does scheduling work for San Jose from San Ramon?
Drive time is 50 to 70 minutes, so we block South-Bay days rather than run back and forth across 880. You get a written arrival window before we leave the shop. Almaden, Willow Glen, Cambrian, and the West Valley get grouped on those routed days.
  • Do you service Fisher & Paykel columns and DishDrawers?
Yes, and the West Valley near Cupertino is where we see the most of them. F&P column refrigeration drifts and frosts on its own pattern, so we run the F&P diagnostic rather than treat it like a Sub-Zero.
  • My Sub-Zero in Almaden runs all day and still warms. What is it?
On a 48-inch built-in that age it is either the evap fan or a sealed-system leak. The fan is the more common and cheaper of the two. We confirm airflow first and only open the sealed system if the fan checks out.
