Kitchen and commercial refrigeration repair in Walnut Creek

Heat with nowhere to go
A Follett Horizon 700 nugget ice machine under a cafe counter was cutting in and out during service. It had never been serviced, and its condenser coil was packed solid. A coil that dirty cannot shed heat, so the compressor ran against high head pressure, pulled high amps, and wore out the run capacitor. We cleaned the coil and replaced the 15µF capacitor. A new capacitor alone would have faced the same dirty coil.
An Atosa Mega Top prep table at a restaurant was running warm for a related reason: its condenser fan was not working properly, so the coil could not get rid of heat. We replaced the fan motor and checked the blade and wiring. When we left, the display read 37°F.
The third case is a home oven. The upper oven of a GE Monogram double oven was overheating and shutting itself off. Its cooling fan motor had stopped spinning. A new GE fan motor fixed it, and we tested both ovens afterward.
