Vallejo's tap water is on the hard side, and a U-Line undercounter ice maker notices. Every fill cycle leaves a little mineral behind in the inlet valve screen and along the water path. Over time the fill slows, cubes come out thin or cloudy, and the machine finally stops making ice even though the supply line is open. Common repairs we handle.
- Ice maker slow to fill or out of ice. Hard water scales the inlet valve screen first. We measure flow at the valve, replace the valve when the screen is crusted, and run a full harvest so you can see the bin start filling again. If an inline filter feeds the unit, we check its date too, because a clogged filter looks just like a bad valve.
- Wine reserve holding one zone and drifting on the other. A dual-zone wine reserve runs its compressor long to keep two temperatures apart, and a caked condenser coil is usually what lets one zone creep warm. We clean the coil, load-test the condenser-fan motor, and check both zones against their set points before we close up.
- Beverage center door that sweats or will not seal. A flattened or torn gasket lets room air in, the glass fogs and the cabinet runs constantly. The 2000 and 3000 series share gaskets, so the common ones ride on our truck and the swap is simple once we confirm the seal is the problem.

Can a U-Line ice maker on Vallejo's hard water be descaled instead of replaced?
In most cases, yes. Scale in the water path and on the inlet valve screen comes off with a proper cleaning cycle, and a crusted valve is a modest part. Replacement only comes up when the refrigeration side has failed, and we would show you that with readings. -
Our Glen Cove island has a U-Line trimmed in tight. Will pulling it damage the cabinets?
Not if it is done in the right order. We back off the leveling legs, free the water and drain lines, pad the floor, and slide the unit out square. It goes back at the same height and gap so the doors line up with the cabinets again. -
Our downtown Victorian has older wiring. Can that make a U-Line act up?
It can. A loose outlet, a shared circuit or a tripping GFCI can reset the controls or stop the compressor mid-cycle. We check the outlet voltage and the circuit before we blame the control board, and we tell you if an electrician should look at the house side.
