Tempstar buys you sound Carrier-engineered hardware at a lower price, and the tradeoff is the badge premium and the dealer network, not the bones of the machine. The QuietComfort furnaces are honest single-stage units. The higher communicating models add variable-speed comfort if the install is done right. Either way, the install quality decides more than the badge does.
