Sub-Zero in San Leandro

Sub-Zero in San Leandro kitchens.

San Leandro has a deep bench of older Sub-Zeros. The Estudillo Estates and Broadmoor neighborhoods are full of well-kept houses from the twenties through the fifties whose kitchens were upgraded once, done right, and left alone since. I regularly service 690 side-by-sides and 600 series over-unders here that are old enough to vote, and most of them have plenty of life left.

I am Andrew Kuznetsov, owner of ADRIUM Service Solutions out of San Ramon, 25 to 30 minutes away on 580. I hold EPA Section 608 Universal certification and CSLB #1136642. You get a written quote before any repair, the $75 diagnostic is waived if you proceed, the repair carries a one year parts and labor warranty, and we schedule 7 days a week.

One San Leandro-specific note: the older homes here settle, and a Sub-Zero that has drifted out of level develops door and drainage complaints that look like component failures. Leveling and alignment checks are part of my standard diagnostic in this city.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.

Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • 690 side-by-side with one warm section. The 690 runs dual compressors, so a warm refrigerator next to a working freezer narrows the fault to that circuit: its compressor, its evaporator, its fan, or its charge. I take pressure and temperature readings on the affected side and quote the actual failure. On this model the fresh food sealed system is the statistically likely culprit, but I prove it before pricing it.
  • Ice maker and fill tube freeze-ups. Older Sub-Zero ice makers in San Leandro homes often stop because the fill tube freezes into a solid plug, usually after a weak fill valve dribbles between cycles. Thawing the tube gets ice back for a week. Replacing the valve fixes it. I do the second one, and I test cube weight afterward to confirm the fill volume is right.
  • Gasket wear and door sag on settled foundations. When a house has settled, the Sub-Zero racks slightly with the floor, gaskets stop sealing evenly, and one corner of the door frosts or sweats. I re-level the unit within the cabinet, adjust the doors, and replace gaskets that have taken a set. It is unglamorous work that adds years of quiet operation.

FAQ

Sub-Zero in San Leandro questions, answered.

  • How long from San Ramon to San Leandro?
About 25 to 30 minutes on 580. San Leandro sits on my main Inner East Bay corridor between Oakland, Hayward, and the Alameda bridge crossings, so I pass through often and can usually offer a near-term slot, including weekends. We run 7 days a week.
  • The unit came with the house and I have no service history. Where do you start?
With the serial tag and a full baseline: temperatures both compartments, compressor amp draws, condenser condition, gasket seal, and defrost function. You get the findings and the quote in writing, which also gives you a service record going forward for a unit that likely outlasts your mortgage.
  • Is the diagnostic fee separate from the repair?
Only if you stop at the diagnostic. It is $75, and it is waived entirely when you approve the quoted repair. The repair itself is covered for one year, parts and labor.
