Sub-Zero in Martinez

Sub-Zero in Martinez kitchens.

Martinez kitchens are a mix I like: hundred-year-old homes near the historic downtown that got quality remodels, and newer hillside houses south of Highway 4 with big built-ins. The Sub-Zeros here trend older, a lot of 561 and 600 series units, and the town's hot, dry summers stress them the same way they stress everything else in the Diablo Valley.

I am Andrew Kuznetsov, owner of ADRIUM Service Solutions in San Ramon. The company holds CSLB #1136642, I hold EPA Section 608 Universal certification for refrigerant work, and every job gets a written quote first. The $75 diagnostic is waived with repair, repairs are warrantied for one year on parts and labor, and we take calls 7 days a week.

In the older Martinez homes, the built-in cabinet was often framed tight decades ago. Part of my job is getting these units out and back in without damaging trim that nobody makes anymore, and I treat that as part of the repair, not an afterthought.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.

Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • 561 compressor overheating from a packed condenser. The 561 pulls condenser air through a grille that collects decades of dust in older houses. In a Martinez summer that blocked coil pushes head pressure high enough to trip the compressor overload, so the unit cools in the morning and quits by dinner. A deep condenser cleaning and a fan check usually restores it, and I verify amp draw afterward to make sure the compressor was not damaged.
  • Defrost drain icing in over-under units. Ice sheet on the freezer floor or water sneaking out the bottom of the door means the defrost drain froze shut. On these Sub-Zeros the fix is clearing the drain and correcting the cause, usually a weak heater or a duct issue, not just melting the ice and leaving. Done right, it stays fixed.
  • Refrigerant undercharge after slow leaks. A Sub-Zero that has slowly lost part of its charge runs long, frosts oddly on the evaporator, and never quite reaches setpoint on hot days. I find the leak with electronic detection and pressure testing, repair it, evacuate, and weigh in a fresh charge. Topping off without fixing the leak is money thrown away, so I do not offer it.

FAQ

Sub-Zero in Martinez questions, answered.

  • What is your travel time to Martinez from San Ramon?
Around 35 minutes north on 680 through Pleasant Hill and past Concord. Martinez usually rides on my Diablo Valley route with those two cities, so if you are flexible on the day I can often fold you into an existing run. We schedule 7 days a week.
  • My unit is from the late nineties. Can you still get parts?
For most 500 and 600 series units, yes. Compressors, fan motors, gaskets, and defrost components remain available, and Sub-Zero supports these models better than almost any other brand supports its old units. If a specific part is genuinely gone, I tell you at the quote stage, not after a deposit.
  • Do you show up on weekends?
Yes, we run 7 days a week, and weekend slots in Martinez are usually easier to get than weekday mornings. Diagnostic is $75, waived when you approve the repair.
