Sub-Zero in Concord

Sub-Zero in Concord kitchens.

Concord is hard on refrigeration. Summer afternoons in the 90s and 100s push condensing temperatures up, and a Sub-Zero with a dusty coil or a tired fan that coasted through winter starts losing ground in July. A large share of my Concord calls cluster in the first real heat wave of the year, from the older neighborhoods around Todos Santos Plaza out to the bigger remodeled kitchens toward Clayton Valley.

We are ADRIUM Service Solutions, owner-operated by Andrew Kuznetsov from San Ramon, a straight run up 680. EPA Section 608 Universal certified for sealed system repairs, CSLB #1136642, written quotes on every job, and the $75 diagnostic is waived when the repair goes ahead. Repairs carry a one year parts and labor warranty, and we schedule 7 days a week.

My advice to Concord owners is blunt: get the condenser cleaned and the unit checked before the heat arrives, because the failures I see in August were almost all audible or measurable in May.

What the work looks like

A built-in sealed-system leak repair.

Nitrogen pressure and a soap-bubble test on a built-in fridge line set. We map every leak source before we braze.
The corroded copper up close. After fifteen-plus years this is why a real fix rebuilds the sealed run, so you do not pay the labor twice.

Brazing a new line onto the compressor during the same kind of sealed-system repair. Recover, braze, evacuate, and recharge: the real fix, done as one complete job.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Heat-stressed sealed system on 650 and 690 units. Sustained high head pressure through Concord summers fatigues brazed joints on the high side of older 650 and 690 systems. The symptom is a unit that keeps temperature overnight but loses two or three degrees every afternoon. I leak test, repair the joint or replace the affected component, then recover and recharge to spec under my 608 certification.
  • Erratic temperatures from a failing control board. On 600 series units of a certain age the control board drifts before it dies. Setpoints wander, the display flickers, or one compartment ignores its thermistor. I verify the thermistors first, since they are cheaper and fail more often, and only replace the board when the readings prove it out.
  • Compressor start relay failure in hot kitchens. A clicking sound every few minutes with a warm box usually means the start relay or capacitor has given up and the compressor cannot start. Heat accelerates this. Caught early it is an inexpensive fix. Ignored, the repeated locked-rotor starts overheat the compressor windings, and that is a much bigger repair.

FAQ

Sub-Zero in Concord questions, answered.

  • How long is the drive to Concord from San Ramon?
About 30 minutes north on 680, past Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill. I group Concord with my Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, and Martinez stops, so Diablo Valley days usually have room for a Concord call, and we run those routes 7 days a week.
  • My Sub-Zero only struggles on hot afternoons. Is that worth a service call?
Yes, and sooner is cheaper. Afternoon-only warming is the signature of a condenser problem or an early refrigerant loss, both of which get worse and can take the compressor down. The $75 diagnostic pins it down, and it is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
  • Do you give the price before you start the repair?
Always. You get a written quote after the diagnostic, you approve it, and only then does the work start. The finished repair is warrantied for one year on both parts and labor.
